NAHUNTA PORK CENTER
Nahunta Pork Center first opened its doors in 1975 to serve the small rural community of Nahunta with sausage and fresh pork products. Nahunta Pork Center was actually a spin off of Nahunta Hog Market and Slaughter House which had been in business since the mid 1950's as a hog buying station and custom slaughtering plant.
In May of 1975 Mack Pierce, owner and operator, remodeled a bulk tobacco barn and began a small pork retail center. The first week the Pierce family processed a grand total of three hogs.
After selling out of meat within a matter of a few hours of opening, it was apparent that there was a demand for this kind of product even in the middle of the country.
